Description

1-Methylpyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4-amine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of sarcoma cells in vitro and in vivo, as well as to enhance radiation sensitivity. 1-Methylpyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4-amine binds to the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase and prevents the conversion of ribonucleotides into deoxyribonucleotides. This inhibition leads to a depletion of nucleotides needed for DNA replication, which prevents cell proliferation during mitosis.
