Description:
3-Methoxy-2-methylpyridine is an amide that can be electrochemically reduced to 3-methoxy-2-methylpyridinium ion. It can also be synthesized from the reaction of sodium carbonate with oxazines, which is analogous to the synthesis of oxazines from ammonia and formaldehyde. 3-Methoxy-2-methylpyridine has been shown to react with chloro, ethers, and enol ethers. The mechanisms by which 3-methoxy-2-methylpyridine reacts with these compounds are still unknown.
