3-Methyl-1,3-thiazolidine-2-thione is an amide with industrial applications. It has been used as a corrosion inhibitor and has shown to be effective in preventing the corrosion of magnesium oxide. 3-Methyl-1,3-thiazolidine-2-thione also inhibits the growth of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, and Clostridium perfringens. 3MTT is an efficient carbon dioxide absorber and can be used to remove carbon dioxide from air. This molecule can also be used in the production of polymers. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm for this compound shows that it can adsorb up to 12 molecules of CO2 per molecule at 25°C and 0% RH.
