Product Information

Name:
N-Methacrylglycine
Synonyms:
  • Methacryloylglycine
  • N-Methacryloylglycine
  • N-(2-methylacryloyl)glycine
Description:

N-Methacrylglycine is a monomer with a hydroxy group, a carbonyl group, and a polymer film. It is made up of two amino groups, one chlorine atom, and one hydroxyl group. The magnetic resonance spectroscopy has shown that the ethylene diamine molecule reacts with the amide form of N-methacrylglycine to produce N-methyldecanamide and hydrogen gas. This reaction proceeds via an addition mechanism with the formation of an amide bond between the two molecules. The reaction forms 10-methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate as a byproduct. N-Methacrylglycine is used in polymers to make films or coatings that are resistant to water and solvents. It also has applications in dentistry as it can be used to create dental fillings that are strong enough to withstand chewing forces.
