Product Information

Name:
2-Methyl-6-nitropyridine
Synonyms:
  • 6-Methyl-2-nitropyridine2-Nitro-6-picoline
Description:

2-Methyl-6-nitropyridine is a volatile organic compound that is used as pretreatment for the removal of nitrogenous compounds. It can be formed by pyrolysis of 2-methylpyridine in a reactor at high temperature, followed by quantification of yields. 2-Methyl-6-nitropyridine has been shown to be effective in the removal of sludge and other organic compounds from water. This process is called pre-treatment and it removes substances that are not volatile, such as sludge and semivolatile organic compounds. The process of pretreatment may also include the use of other chemicals, such as sodium hydroxide, to remove inorganic substances.
