3-Methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid is a trifluoromethoxy compound that is structurally related to pyrazole. It is a fluorine analogue of propionyl, which has been reported to be a mononuclear formyl group. 3-Methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid has been found to be an effective metal coordination complex with a variety of metals, including palladium and nickel. The structural isomer propionyl is also known as a nitro compound, due to its unstable nature and the presence of both nitro groups and formyl groups. The ethyl orthoformate and methyl orthoformate are two esters that have been identified in this compound. The chlorine atom in 3-methyl pyrazole carboxylic acid can replace hydroxide ions in other compounds, such as ethylene glycol or methanol.
