3-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid (MPPC) is a pyridine compound that has been shown to have constraints on the structural, copper and metal coordination. The constraint is due to the strong interaction between the pyrazole ring and the phenyl group. This interplay between the two groups gives MPPC its stereochemistries, coordination and crystal structures.
MPPC has been shown to be a ligand for Cu(II). Copper is an important part of many enzymes such as cytochrome c oxidase, which is required for aerobic respiration in cells. The binding of MPPC with copper can inhibit this enzyme and lead to cell death.
