Description

1-Methoxy-2,4-Pentanedione is a metal chelate with a cyanoalkyl, alkynyl group and hydroxy group. It can be synthesized in the presence of hydrochloric acid by dehydration of pentanedione. 1-Methoxy-2,4-Pentanedione has been used as an agrochemical for plant protection against fungal diseases and nematodes. The formyl group on the molecule makes it a good precursor for the synthesis of other compounds. 1-Methoxy-2,4-Pentanedione can be synthesized from phosphorus pentachloride and methylamine or diethylamine in organic solvents.
