5-methyl-5-phenylimidazolidine-2,4-dione is a chromatographic method that can be used to measure the cis-ddp content in human serum. The chromatographic method is based on the uv absorption of cis-ddp in the presence of a solute and its hydrogen bonding interactions. The absorbance of cis-ddp at 245 nm is proportional to its concentration and can be measured with high sensitivity. This method has been validated for use with human serum and other solutes. 5M5PIDD is an empirically derived parameter that is used for reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP HPLC) analysis of cis-ddp in human serum samples. It has been shown to correlate well with concentrations determined by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GCMS).
