Description

3-(2-methylphenyl)propanoic acid is a fatty acid that is found in the neutrophil membrane. It has been shown to increase neutrophil recruitment and reticulocytosis in vitro, suggesting it may be useful for inflammatory diseases or other conditions where there are abnormal levels of neutrophils. 3-(2-methylphenyl)propanoic acid has been shown to induce apoptosis in erythrocytes, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of fatty acids. This compound also has been shown to have pro-inflammatory effects on hematopoietic cells at high concentrations.
