Product Information
- Piperidine, 3-(3-Methoxyphenyl)-
3-(3-Methoxyphenyl)-piperidine is a receptor ligand that binds to the enzyme anthranilate synthase, which catalyzes the synthesis of the neurotransmitter serotonin. This drug has been shown to be an effective sealant against cancer cells and has a positive effect on psychotic disorders. It also inhibits the shikimic acid pathway by inhibiting the activity of enzymes in this pathway. 3-(3-Methoxyphenyl)-piperidine is thought to bind to a specific subtype of serotonin receptors, as it was found to inhibit binding of [H]serotonin in cloned rat brain tissue and selectively inhibited [H]serotonin binding in cloned human platelets, but not in human erythrocytes.
