Description:
(1R,2S,5R)-(-)-Menthyl (S)-p-toluenesulfinate is the enantiomer of the chiral reagent (1S,2R,5S)-(+)-menthyl p-toluenesulfinate. It is a Grignard reagent that can be used for desulfurization reactions. This compound also has the ability to crystallize as a single enantiomer and can be used as a preparative reagent or an intermediate in organic synthesis. The chloride salt of (1R,2S,5R)-(-)-menthyl (S) -p-toluenesulfinate is acidic with a pH of 3.0 and can be used as an ion exchange resin in chromatographic separations. This reagent also has anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
