Description:

4-Methyl-2-(trimethylsilyl)phenyl Trifluoromethanesulfonate is an efficient palladium catalyst for the synthesis of bicyclic compounds. It was first reported by Catlow et al. in 1993, and has been commercially available since then. This compound is soluble in acetonitrile and phosphine, which makes it a good alternative to using solvents such as benzene or dichloromethane. The catalytic cycle involves a nucleophilic attack on the activated olefin followed by the addition of another electron-deficient carbonyl group. 4-Methyl-2-(trimethylsilyl)phenyl Trifluoromethanesulfonate is also used for the synthesis of azabicyclics, which are useful for pharmaceuticals and pesticides.
