Methyl (R)-(+)-2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)propionate is a compound that is found in the environment as it can be generated by the oxidation of methylbenzene. Methyl (R)-(+)-2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)propionate is also known as "methyl phenyl carbinol" or "MPC." It has been shown to disrupt potassium channels and may therefore have an effect on neurological activity. The compound has also been shown to cause reproductive toxicity in mice when exposed at high levels.
