Description:

(R)-1-Methyl-3-pyrrolidinol is a methyltransferase inhibitor that is selective for the DNA methyltransferases DNMT1 and DNMT3. This agent binds to the active site of the enzyme, preventing it from binding to DNA. (R)-1-Methyl-3-pyrrolidinol is selective for human DNMTs and has a low level of selectivity for other enzymes in the same family. The methyl group on this molecule can be substituted with chloro, alkylation, or substituents to optimize its reactivity and inhibitory activity.
