Methyltri-n-octylammonium Bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (MTOBTISI) is a hydrophobic fluorosurfactant that is soluble in organic solvents and has a low vapour pressure. It can be used to reduce the surface tension of water, and is also used as an emulsifying agent in oil production. MTOBTISI has been shown to have a constant transport rate for chloride ions, copper oxide, and oxygen molecules. It can be used as a viscosity modifier in paints and varnishes, as well as a mathematical model to simulate transport mechanisms in fluids.
