(2-Methoxyethyl)thiourea is a heterocyclic compound with the chemical formula C5H11NOS. It has two tautomeric forms, and one of them is the more stable form. The other form exists in equilibrium with the more stable form, but it can be trapped by heating or irradiation. (2-Methoxyethyl)thiourea has a pyrimidine derivative structure, containing a 6-membered ring with alternating nitrogen and sulfur atoms. It also contains a methyl ester group on the nitrogen atom and 2 methoxy groups on both ends of the molecule. This compound has been shown to be effective in reducing dyslipidemia, although its exact mechanism of action is not known.
