Description:

2-Methyl-2-Pentenoic acid is a synthetic organic compound that is used in wastewater treatment. It is an alkanoic acid that can undergo acetylation to form cinchonidine. 2-Methyl-2-Pentenoic acid can be synthesized from pentenoic acid and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of fatty acids by inhibiting the enzyme lipoxygenase. 2-Methyl-2-Pentenoic acid also has immobilization properties and can be deuterated as a stable isotopic label for use in biological studies.
