3,4-(Methylenedioxy)toluene is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of organic molecules. It has been shown to have insecticidal activity against Rhipicephalus appendiculatus and Rhipicephalus species. 3,4-(Methylenedioxy)toluene is also a synthetic molecule that has been shown to inhibit trypanosomiasis in mice. The molecule was first synthesized by Eugen Wieland in 1887 and was the first chemical used for the treatment of trypanosomiasis. It inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomal RNA and interfering with the translation process.
