The molecule's structure also includes an aromatic ring with a carbonyl group, which can be oxidized by nitric oxide to form nitro groups on the aromatic ring. 4-Methoxybenzyl-4-methoxyphenol ketone also binds to estrogen receptors, acting as an estrogen receptor modulator (ERM).
