Description

7-Methoxyisoflavone is a natural product found in plants. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the activity of certain enzymes, such as those that break down protein and those that regulate blood clotting. 7-Methoxyisoflavone has been used for drug repositioning, namely for the treatment of heart disease and brain functions. 7-Methoxyisoflavone also has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as a growth factor in vitro assays. This compound binds to group P2 of the protein kinase C (PKC) family and inhibits PKC activity by blocking the binding site of phorbol ester on the enzyme. In vivo studies using Sprague-Dawley rats have shown that 7-methoxyisoflavone can reduce autoimmune diseases by inhibiting T cell proliferation.
