Description

2-Methoxy-1-naphthaldehyde is a potential chemical intermediate for the synthesis of a variety of biologically active compounds. It has been shown to have anti-tumor activity in solid tumours and can be used as a precursor for the production of new drugs that inhibit the growth of cancer cells. 2-Methoxy-1-naphthaldehyde is synthesized via an intramolecular hydrogen addition reaction with salicylaldehyde, which generates resonance stabilization. It also has an intermolecular hydrogen bond with naphthalene to form the dimer or trimer.
