2-Methoxyphenyl isothiocyanate is a thione molecule that contains hydrogen, nitrogen and carbon atoms. It has an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the sulfur atom and the oxygen atom in the methoxy group. 2-Methoxyphenyl isothiocyanate has been found to be a potential inhibitor of human serum albumin, which may be due to its ability to form a hydrogen bond with the sulfhydryl group on albumin. This compound also has two functional groups: carbonyl and thiol groups. These groups are responsible for the inhibition of protein synthesis, as well as the formation of intermolecular hydrogen bonding with other molecules such as glutathione or cysteine. 2-Methoxyphenyl isothiocyanate also reacts with dihedral angles in heterocycles, which may be responsible for its structural studies.
