a-Me-D-Gly(Allyl)-OH is a chiral ester that is used as a catalyst in the asymmetric synthesis of enantiomerically pure aminophenols. This compound is synthesized from tartaric acid and an allyl alcohol. The hydrolysis of this ester can be catalyzed by acid to afford a chiral, alkylating agent. The use of a chiral catalyst in this process leads to high yields with excellent enantioselectivity.
