Product Information
- (2R)-2-amino-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-methylpropanoic acid
a-Me-D-Tyr-OH is a potential antineoplastic agent that inhibits protein synthesis and has been shown to be effective against colon adenocarcinoma cells. The drug binds to the hydroxylase enzyme, preventing dopamine from being converted into norepinephrine, which is needed for cell proliferation. This drug has been shown to inhibit the uptake of dopamine in colon adenocarcinoma cells, but not in normal cells. It also competitively inhibits the uptake of L-amino acid by colon adenocarcinoma cells.
