Product Information
- (2-Methylpyrimidin-5-Yl)Boronic Acid
- B-(2-Methyl-5-Pyrimidinyl)Boronic Acid
- 2-Methylpyrimidine-5-boronic acid :
2-Methylpyrimidine-5-boronic acid is a potent, selective and bioavailable inhibitor of aldehyde oxidase (AOX). It was shown to be more potent than the parent compound in inhibiting AOX. This compound has been shown to have metabolic stability and high selectivity for AOX over other enzymes, such as alcohol dehydrogenase. 2-Methylpyrimidine-5-boronic acid is an inhibitor of the microsomal enzyme system that converts short chain fatty acids into acyl coenzyme A esters. This inhibition prevents the formation of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid and thromboxanes from prostaglandin E2. The inhibition of these enzymes by 2-methylpyrimidine-5-boronic acid leads to a decrease in pain and inflammation.
