Description

2-Methyl-3-(methylthio)pyrazine is a surface methodology that can be used to detect sulfide in high concentrations. It is metastable and can be detected by solid phase microextraction. This compound has been shown to react with alkylpyrazines and aldehydes to produce quinoxalines, which are used as model systems for the study of molecular ions. 2-Methyl-3-(methylthio)pyrazine is also used in headspace analysis, which involves the use of microextraction techniques to identify reaction products such as furfuryl acetate.
