Product Information

Name:
Methyl Pentafluorobenzoate
Synonyms:
  • Benzoic acid, 2,3,4,5,6-pentafluoro-, methyl ester
  • Methyl 2,3,4,5,6-Pentafluorobenzoate
Description:

Methyl pentafluorobenzoate (MPFB) is a monosodium salt that has significant cytotoxic effects. It is used in the laboratory to study the mechanisms of cancer cell death and has been shown to be effective against various carcinoma cell lines. MPFB is a reactive functional group with high resistance to cellular defenses and can cause DNA damage by reacting with nucleophilic amino acid residues on proteins. This reaction leads to DNA strand breaks, resulting in apoptosis or necrosis. In addition, MPFB has been shown to induce β-catenin degradation and inhibit the Wnt signaling pathway.
