Description:

Methyl 2-Chloroisonicotinate is a reactive chemical compound that can be used to synthesize other compounds. It reacts with diazonium salt, 1-hydroxy-2-pyridone and hydrogen chloride in the presence of a metal catalyst to form methyl chloroisonicotinate. Methyl 2-chloroisonicotinate has been shown to inhibit the growth of tuberculosis and other bacteria. This drug also has anti-inflammatory properties that are due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Methyl 2-chloroisonicotinate has been studied for use as an antimalarial agent and for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The optimum reaction conditions for this drug have been determined by molecular modeling and clinical studies. Methyl 2-chloroisonicotinate has shown optical properties that are red in color.
