Product Information
4-Methoxy-L-tryptophan is a fluorescent compound that has been used as a nephrotoxin in the treatment of tuberculosis. It is also used to measure fluorescence and photodecomposition. 4-Methoxy-L-tryptophan has cyclic structure, which can be found in macrocycles or mutant forms. The synthesis of these compounds requires a nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS). This enzyme is responsible for the production of nonribosomal peptides, which are synthesized through a process known as nonribosomal peptide synthesis (NRPS). The NRPS enzyme attaches amino acids to the growing polypeptide chain through an ester linkage, building up the desired sequence one amino acid at a time. NRPS enzymes are also responsible for synthesizing antibiotics such as antituberculosis drugs.
