Description:
2-Methyl-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water. It has been shown to be hydrolyzed in an alkaline condition and can be used as a condensing agent. 2-Methyl-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine reacts with malonate to produce 2,3,4,6-tetraethoxybenzaldehyde, which can then be hydrolyzed into 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde.
