Product Information
- Magnesium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonimide)
- Magnesium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide
Magnesium trifluoromethanesulfonamide is a magnesium salt that has been shown to react with nucleophiles. It is prepared by the reaction of magnesium metal with chloroform, followed by the addition of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. This compound can be used as a nucleophile in organic synthesis, such as acetylation reactions and the preparation of amines. The chloride anion in this compound has a low affinity for water and can be used in solvents such as acetone or chloroform. Magnesium trifluoromethanesulfonamide can also be used as a reagent to prepare β-amino acids from carboxylic acids.
