Description:
Methyl(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)silanediol (MTSD) is a chemical substance that is produced as an intermediate in the synthesis of pesticides and pharmaceuticals. MTSD is used to produce the insecticide methoxyfenozide and the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug piroxicam. MTSD has been shown to be biologically degraded by aerobic microorganisms with a half-life of about 2 days at 25°C. The national average concentration of MTSD was found to be less than 0.1mg/L in wastewater samples collected from China's cities.
