2-Methyl-2,4,6-Tris(trifluoromethyl)-2H-pyran (MTFP) is a pyran that has an acetylacetonate substituent. The x-ray crystal structure of MTFP was determined and found to have a molecular formula of C8H8F7O3. The x-ray diffraction study revealed the parameters for MTFP. The distance between the two methyl groups on the alpha carbon (1.36 Å), the distance between the two methyl groups on the beta carbon (1.27 Å), and the distance between the two methyl groups on the gamma carbon (1.48 Å) all fell within range of values for other pyrans in this field of research.
