Description

4-Methyl-6-(Trifluoromethyl)-2-Pyrimidinamine is a potent inhibitor of HIV-1. It is used as a substrate in an assay that detects the presence of HIV-1. This compound has been shown to inhibit the transfer and transmission of HIV-1 in cell cultures by interfering with the synthesis of viral mRNA. 4MP is also used as a building block for other molecules, such as devices for gas sensing and electrochemical detection. The emission spectrum for this compound can be seen in transmissions from 400 nm to 700 nm, with peak emission at 550 nm. It has a constant intensity of 1 over the range from 400 nm to 700 nm when measured with a module that is sensitive to emissions between 400 nm and 700 μm. 4MP has been shown to have properties similar to dielectric materials such as polystyrene, polymethyl methacrylate, or polyethylene terephthalate.
