Methyl 2,6-dichloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine-3-carboxylate is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of organochlorine insecticides. It inhibits the production of lipid peroxides in liver cells and has been shown to have carcinogenic potential. Methyl 2,6-dichloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine-3-carboxylate can inhibit the synthesis of DNA by binding to DNA polymerase and blocking the incorporation of nucleotides into a growing strand. It also induces peroxisome proliferation and increases enzyme activities in rats. In addition, this chemical has been shown to cause cataract formation in animals.
