3-Methyl-1-phenyl-6-(trifluoromethyl)-2H-pyrazolo[4,5-e]pyrimidine-4-thione is a pyrimidine derivative that has been shown to be an antifungal agent. It inhibits the growth of Candida albicans by interfering with the formation of membranes and alters the morphology of the fungus. 3MPPT has been shown to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans in vitro and in vivo. 3MPPT also exhibits antifungal activity against other fungi such as Aspergillus niger and Cryptococcus neoformans, but not against bacteria or protozoans.
