Methyl 4,4,4-trifluorocrotonate is a ligand that can be used in the stereocontrolled synthesis of aliphatic amides. It is unactivated and can also be used for fluorine alkylation reactions. The trifluoromethyl group reacts with electrophiles to produce the desired product. Methyl 4,4,4-trifluorocrotonate yields a high yield of products when used as a catalyst for reactions involving carbonyl compounds or amide substrates.
