- 1-Nitro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)benzene
- o-Nitrotrifluoromethoxybenzene
1-nitro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)benzene is a haloalkyl that reacts with other compounds to form covalent bonds. The rate of this reaction increases with the number of carbon atoms in the alkyl group. 1-nitro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)benzene has been shown to reduce serum cholesterol levels and dyslipidemia by inhibiting HMG CoA reductase, which is an enzyme necessary for the synthesis of cholesterol, and can be used as a receptor ligand for cancer treatment. 1-nitro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)benzene also has been found to inhibit tyrosine kinase activity and nitric oxide production, which may be responsible for its effects on cell function in the respiratory system. It has also shown anti-inflammatory properties by decreasing the production of prostaglandins.
