Description

1-(1-Naphthyl)-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione is a fluorescent compound that has been shown to interact with ATPase activity. It inhibits the uptake of chloride ions by cells and causes an increase in viscosity in water. 1-(1-Naphthyl)-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione can be synthesized from a number of compounds and has been used as a fluorescent probe for experimental purposes. It is soluble in organic solvents and is functionalized with various groups such as amine, hydroxyl, carboxylic acid, sulfonic acid, and phosphoric acid groups.
