Description:
4-Nitro-1H-1,2,3-benzotriazole is a pharmacological agent that inhibits the corrosion of copper by inorganic acids. It is soluble in water and a copper complex can be formed with it. This complex is insoluble in hydrochloric acid and nitrogen atoms are chelated. The nitro group is an inhibitor of corrosion and has been shown to be site specific. 4-Nitro-1H-1,2,3-benzotriazole has been used as a corrosion inhibitor for copper pipes in the presence of nitric acid or hydrochloric acid.
