Product Information
- 1H-imidazole
- 1-[(2-nitrophenyl)methyl]-
1-(2-Nitrobenzyl)-1H-imidazole is a molecule that can be synthesized by the trichloroacetylation of an imidazole. It is also possible to hydrogenate the chloride in 1-(2-nitrobenzyl)-1H-imidazole to produce 1-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)ethyl chloride. This molecule has been shown to catalyze the reduction of nitro groups and radiation sensitive groups, including chlorine and bromine. The photolabile ethoxycarbonyl group can be cleaved from 1-(2-nitrobenzyl)-1H-imidazole with UV light. The nitro group can also be photolyzed from this molecule with visible light.
