Product Information
- benzofuran
- 2-(4-nitrophenyl)-
2-(4-Nitrophenyl)-1-benzofuran is a chromophore that can be found in the terminal alkynes of plants such as Stephania tetrandra. It has been shown to have potent cytotoxic effects against cholangiocarcinoma cells and other cancerous cells. 2-(4-Nitrophenyl)-1-benzofuran inhibits cell growth by damaging DNA, leading to apoptosis. This molecule also has an inhibitory effect on bacterial growth, which may be due to its ability to induce the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by inhibiting electron transport chain activity.
