Product Information

Name:
(3-Nitrophenyl)methanesulfonyl chloride
Synonyms:
  • benzenemethanesulfonyl chloride
  • 3-nitro-
  • (3-Nitrophenyl)Methanesulfonyl Chloride
Description:

3-Nitrophenylmethanesulfonyl chloride is a benzylating agent that can be used for the synthesis of nitro-compounds. It has a steric effect and interacts with alicyclic compounds. 3-Nitrophenylmethanesulfonyl chloride catalyzes the reaction of organometallic compounds, biomolecules and other organic molecules by introducing the nitro group to form an ester or amide. It also reacts with electron-rich olefins to form nitroalkenes. 3-Nitrophenylmethanesulfonyl chloride is synthesized by reacting nitric acid with sodium methanesulfinate in the presence of benzyl alcohol.
