Description:

2-Naphthoxyacetic acid (2NOAA) is a naturally occurring compound that belongs to the class of naphthoxyacetic acids. This substance has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi, and is used for this purpose in some experiments. 2NOAA is hydrophobic and esters can be prepared from it by alkaline hydrolysis or by reacting it with an alcohol. It also has low-molecular-weight bioactive substances that are polymeric in nature. 2NOAA shows optimal biological activity at a molecular mass of less than 500 Da.
