Description:

3-Nitroisonicotinic acid is a nitrosating agent that inhibits the function of acetylcholine, an important neurotransmitter. It is used in pharmaceutical preparations as an inhibitor drug and has been shown to have a strong inhibitory effect on skin cancer cells in culture. 3-Nitroisonicotinic acid has also been shown to inhibit inflammatory diseases by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. This agent may be useful for treating heart function disorders, such as arrhythmias, and certain cancers. 3-Nitroisonicotinic acid has been shown to inhibit the action of 5-membered heteroaryl compounds (e.g., thiophene) by forming a covalent bond with carbon atoms in these molecules.
