Description:

6-Nitrobenzo[d]oxazole is a nitroarene that can stabilize DNA by forming covalent bonds to the N7 position of guanine. It has been shown that this compound is able to inhibit topoisomerase I, an enzyme involved in DNA replication, and topoisomerase II, an enzyme involved in DNA recombination. 6-Nitrobenzo[d]oxazole has been shown to be active against cancer cells and inhibits cancer cell proliferation. This compound also interacts with hydrogen bond acceptors on the surface of cancer cells and has been shown to inhibit the growth of these cells as well as their ability to invade other tissues.
