Product Information
- 3-Nitropyridine-2-carboxaldehyde
- 3-Nitro-2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde
3-Nitropicolinaldehyde is a nitro compound that is prepared by the reaction of aminopyridine, sulfide, and chloride in the presence of hydrosulfite. This reaction is catalyzed by palladium. 3-Nitropicolinaldehyde can be converted to 3-nitrocatechol and then to 2-amino-3-nitrophenol. The cross-coupling method used in this synthetic process provides a high yield and easy demethylation of nitro groups to form vinylic groups. This compound has been shown to undergo a number of reactions with thiosemicarbazide and sodium sulfide.
