Product Information
8-Nitroquinolin-2(1H)-one is a fluorinated molecule that has been shown to exhibit strong activity against L. infantum in vivo. This compound inhibits the growth of Leishmania, an intracellular protozoan parasite, by binding to DNA and inhibiting RNA synthesis. 8-Nitroquinolin-2(1H)-one also has anti-infective properties and is effective against bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The drug can be synthesized from phenoxy compounds with nitro groups via the nitration reaction. The synthesis of 8-nitroquinolin-2(1H)-one starts with the halogenation of phenoxy compounds with halogens such as fluorine or chlorine under mild conditions. The product is then oxidized to generate the corresponding nitro compound, which is then reacted with ammonia to produce 8-nitroquinolin-2(1H)-one.
