Product Information

Name:
7-Nitroindolin-2-one
Synonyms:
  • 7-Nitro-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one
Description:

7-Nitroindolin-2-one is a potential antitumor agent that inhibits the cell cycle in a manner similar to that of other cycle inhibitors. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of leukemia cells by disrupting the cell cycle. 7-Nitroindolin-2-one binds to DNA and exerts its antitumor effect by inhibiting DNA synthesis and repair, which prevents replication of cancer cells. This drug also has peroxide activity, which may serve as an antioxidant, protecting against oxidative damage. The mechanism of action for this drug is similar to that for 8-nitroquinoline (8NQ), which also inhibits tumor growth in mice with leukemia. 7-Nitroindolin-2-one also has pharmacophore properties, including a quinoline ring and an 8 nitroquinoline nucleus.
